When squares are auctioned after the column and rows are numbered, owners want boxes that correspond with totals of scoring plays, such as touchdowns and field goals. With random numbers, contestants decide whether to buy boxes in a cluster or scatter them throughout the grid. Owners will then fill in their names or initials in the squares before each row and column are numbered zero through nine. It features 10 columns and 10 rows of 100 blank squares with either the Chiefs or Buccaneers assigned to the rows and the other team aligned with the columns. Who can argue with 200-1 odds for simply picking numbers out of the hat and hoping they correspond with your square?Ī Super Bowl squares pool is easy to set up. The payouts in such a pool typically will reward winners of the first three quarters $100 apiece while the final score could be worth $200. Those potential winnings can be boosted to 10,000 by placing a 5. The risk can be minimal for diving into a Super Bowl pool - as little as $1 for each of the 100 boxes that comprise the 10-by-10 grid. Users who bet 10 on Super Bowl 57 will earn a square and have a shot at a 20-100 share of 10,000 in bonus bets. What’s even more fun is winning that pool, and a few key. ET kickoff for Sunday's Super Bowl LV clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. One of the highlights of a Super Bowl party, besides the food, is participating in box pools, better known as Super Bowl squares. So, for those who have one or two of the more unfavorable numbers on their sheets, the search to join another Super Bowl squares pool can continue right up to the 6:30 p.m. There is a simple rule when it comes to playing Super Bowl squares: Not all numbers are created equal.

I have heard that the game even forced people to sit through a 2 and a half hour wait unless you wanted to edit a file to skip it. I should add that even hitting Escape didn’t bring up the main menu, I had to Alt-F4 in order to close the game at this point as I had enough of this ridiculous nonsense. After that you have to manually move the cursor up along the code to spell out messages. There is no reason to force the player to do this but you are forced regardless. Then you are forced to press the “E” button over and over for about 1-2 minutes to manually trigger the “super hot” voice that is usually automatic. You are meant to give up until you are past it. You can try to keep battling through the levels but you are forced to give up everything including the ability to move and look around. Later in the game on the very last level you are also forced to give up. The kicker is that I never used any of these powers, if I had the option to give them back right away and save myself some anger I would have. The worst part was that they get introduced after you get granted certain powers and later in the game they stop appearing after you are forced to give the powers back. I have always hated enemies I had to run from and in this genre it is inexcusable. They spawn randomly, sometimes not at all, and when they do all you can do is try to avoid them. The first thing the game did that I loathed was introduce enemies that couldn’t be killed. Even on it’s last few minutes it was finding ways to not respect my time and introduce ways to sap any enjoyment I had left. Sadly outside of the game play Mind Control Delete has found several ways to annoy me to the point that I was happy to be done with the game. I was a huge fan of the original Superhot so when I got Mind Control Delete free as a gift I was looking forward to it. Additionally, without spoiling anything, the ending was, to me, completely unacceptable. It only takes one or two hours for MCD to feel boring and repetitive. MCD feels less like puzzle solving and more like slow-motion survival. As a result, MCD feels like an interesting game built on the incorrect foundation-the game falls apart once the novelty of the new features is lost. The entire game design of Superhot was built on the foundation of a one-hit kill system. There is now an unknown kill quota required to complete each level, along with the player having multiple lives. In MCD, levels are procedurally generated, so you will inevitably play the same maps over and over again. Because of this, playing a level of Superhot in 2016 felt like solving a puzzle, as opposed to mindlessly gunning down enemies. Much of what made Superhot so enjoyable was that every level was carefully, individually crafted. However, the larger picture direction in which MCD chooses to go leads to a disappointing and overall boring experience. Because of this, playing Superhot: Mind Control Delete builds upon its predecessor by adding new, creative enemy types along with a host of interesting gameplay features. The center line crosses the border into Tennessee around 1:26 p.m. Totality for that state starts there two minutes earlier and lasts until nearly 1:29 p.m. The center line leaves Illinois at its Ohio River border with Kentucky just past 1:24 p.m. At 1:19, the shadow’s midpoint crosses the Mississippi River, which at that location is the state border with Illinois. CDT and enters Missouri a scant two minutes later. The center line hits the very northeastern part of Kansas at 1:04 p.m. Next up is Wyoming, where the umbral center line dwells until just past 11:49 a.m. After a great west-to-east path across Oregon, the center line takes roughly nine minutes to cross a wide swath of Idaho, entering the western part of the state just before 11:25 a.m. The center line crosses through 10 states. There, the total phase lasts 1 minute, 58.5 seconds.ġ2. If you want to be the first person to experience totality in the continental U.S., be on the waterfront at Government Point, Oregon, at 10:15:56.5 a.m. The shadow is round, however, so the longest eclipse occurs at its center line because that’s where you’ll experience the Moon’s shadow’s full width.ġ1. People across its width would experience the same duration of darkness. If it were square, it wouldn’t matter where you viewed totality. This probably isn’t a revelation, but the Moon’s shadow is round. Only totality reveals the true celestial spectacle: the diamond ring, the Sun’s glorious corona, strange colors in our sky, and seeing stars in the daytime.ġ0. And it doesn’t matter whether the partial eclipse above your location is 48, 58, or 98 percent. You won’t even notice your surroundings getting dark. I know that 48 percent sounds like a lot. Not to cast a shadow on things, but likening a partial eclipse to a total eclipse is like comparing almost dying to dying. And that’s from the northern tip of Maine.ĩ. In fact, if you have clear skies on eclipse day, the Moon will cover at least 48 percent of the Sun’s surface. They occur at the same node, the Moon’s distance from Earth is nearly the same, and they happen at the same time of year.Ĩ. Two eclipses separated by one Saros cycle are similar. Scientists call this length of time a Saros cycle. Similar solar and lunar eclipses recur every 6,585.3 days (18 years, 11 days, 8 hours). Solar eclipses occur between Saros cycles. Here’s an example: If the Moon covers half the Sun’s diameter (in this case the magnitude equals 50 percent), the amount of obscuration (the area of the Sun’s disk the Moon blots out) will be 39.1 percent.ħ. The obscuration is the percent of the Sun’s total surface area covered at maximum. The magnitude of a solar eclipse is the percent of the Sun’s diameter that the Moon covers during maximum eclipse. Astronomers categorize each solar eclipse in terms of its magnitude and obscuration, and I don’t want you to be confused when you encounter these terms. It’s all about magnitude and obscuration. The result is that the Moon’s apparent diameter can range from 7 percent larger to 10 percent smaller than the Sun.Ħ. The Earth-Sun distance varies by 3 percent and the Moon-Earth distance by 12 percent. The reason the total phases of solar eclipses vary in time is because Earth is not always at the same distance from the Sun and the Moon is not always the same distance from Earth. Eclipse totalities are different lengths. During most (lunar) months, the Sun lies either above or below one of the nodes, and no eclipse happens.ĥ. Eclipses only occur when the Sun lies at one node and the Moon is at its New (for solar eclipses) or Full (for lunar eclipses) phase. Astronomers call the two intersections of these paths nodes. The reason is that the Moon’s orbit tilts 5° to Earth’s orbit around the Sun. Solar eclipses don’t happen at every New Moon. The only lunar phase when that happens is New Moon.Ĥ. The Moon has to be between the Sun and Earth for a solar eclipse to occur. If you’re in the light part (the penumbra), you’ll see a partial eclipse.ģ. If you’re in the dark part of that shadow (the umbra), you’ll see a total eclipse. The Moon, directly between the Sun and Earth, casts a shadow on our planet. A solar eclipse is a lineup of the Sun, the Moon, and Earth. Before that one, you have to go back to March 7, 1970.Ģ. Unfortunately, not many people saw it because it clipped just five states in the Northwest and the weather for the most part was bleak. This will be the first total solar eclipse in the continental U.S. Hey, it’s never too early for knowledge, right? Anyway, these are the facts.ġ. But it’s going to be so huge that I thought I’d list some of the important details for our readership, the general public, and the media. As I write this blog, I realize that the event is more than a year away. Once the drawer panel is placed on hinges, allowing it to be folded down, the ironing board can be pulled out, unfolded and put to use. The 36-inch ironing board, which folds in half, can be mounted in a top drawer of any cabinet or dresser, as long as the drawer space is at least 22 inches wide. This device, sold for $195 by professional organizer Birdie Brennan at the show, might seem quirky, but it has a practical value. The windows don’t offer insulation, but they do protect against rain, snow and wind, extending the season of a screened-in patio at less cost than installing glass windows. Pull three down and 75 percent of the window is open, offering much more screen than sliding or double-hung windows, which open only 50 percent of the way. The windows, offered at the show by Natural Light Patio Covers (in acrylic) and Mid-Ohio Patio Rooms (in vinyl), consist of four panels that slide down in sections over one another. For homeowners who can’t decide between a screened-in or a window- enclosed porch, these provide a third choice. The product comes with a 25-year warranty against cracking, chipping or peeling. Salesman Craig Massie estimated that Rhino Shield costs two to three times more than a typical professional painting job. Rhino Shield workers spray the product on after sealing cracks and applying a primer. Like paint, Rhino Shield can be applied to almost any surface - wood, stucco, block, brick, aluminum, vinyl, or fiber cement. In addition, it offers an R-7 insulation value. Rhino Shield provides eight or nine times the strength and durability of standard latex paint, the company claims. This paintlike product, which is offered by a local franchise, relies on ceramic powder for a tougher coating than conventional paint on exterior surfaces. Prices range from $6,699 to $9,000 depending on size and options. Sold by Scioto Valley, the cover comes in 7- or 8-foot sizes and in two colors. The top can rise to a full height or, for cozier settings, can rest lower to the tub. On three of the four sides, shades can be drawn for privacy. Under the roof are lights that cast a glow over the tub. The top rises to form a roof when the tub is in use. Mounted on four posts around the hot tub, the Covana rests on the tub when it isn’t in use, forming a seal that keeps in the heat. For hot tub owners who are tired of lifting off the cover or want some shade or protection from the elements, the Covana might be just the thing. Green Envy costs $49 a cubic yard in bulk or $5.99 for a 40-pound bag (0.65 cubic foot). The soil can be used as potting soil, topsoil or garden filler. “All these places, they’re taking it to the landfills and paying $36 a ton to get rid of it,” said Ron Frost, Ohio Mulch’s director of sales. At its Delaware composting plant, Ohio Mulch converts the waste into a nutrient-rich soil. This new Ohio Mulch soil is made of outdated fruit and vegetables from Kroger, Walmart, Ohio State University, county jails and other local sources. I haven’t tested or even seen any of these in use, so this is not an endorsement but only a sampling of new products that caught my eye.
